All for love, Is that Kali?
Sheela 28th May 2014, 3:12 AM edit delete reply

That does look like Kali by the Prince's side.
Stormwind13 28th May 2014, 5:51 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, that sure looks like Kali to me, jamie.
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 5:46 PM edit delete reply

Yes that IS Kali :D

I like the black and gray colors a lot. Its very effective for a flash back sequence, but if you ever get an itch to do another urban Sci Fi comic, using this pallet would be neat. It reminds me of the old Twilight Zone/Outer Limits shows.
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 5:47 PM edit delete reply

interesting :D The process for the sepia is slower than standard renders and uses a very stark lighting source :D but yeah we wanted it to look "old" :D
KarToon12 28th May 2014, 6:28 PM edit delete reply

I'm in FULL agreement. Centcomm doing a Twilight Zone/Outer Limits type comic would be EPIC. :D
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 6:35 PM edit delete reply

hehe I have enough trouble juggling two comics :D :D

Thank you so much for the compliment :D
Sheela 28th May 2014, 10:10 PM edit delete reply

It's odd, I used to think that the Adventures of Zona was pretty decent renders, but now ? meh.

You really have spoiled us readers a lot. :)
KarToon12 29th May 2014, 8:14 PM edit delete reply

All you need is a Rod Serling type character for the narrator. XD
cattservant 28th May 2014, 1:39 AM edit delete reply

[Just the right amount of jam on the toast.]
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 5:47 PM edit delete reply

yep :D
Rashala 28th May 2014, 2:28 AM edit delete reply

Are we sure DEci IS Acanthas real brother and not some Changeling baby some servant swapped out for the real one?
Stormwind13 28th May 2014, 5:53 AM edit delete reply

I would have thought they would have done a genetic test to ensure against that, Rash. However, Douchebag sure seems DIFFERENT than the rest of the family.
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 5:47 PM edit delete reply

it happens .. mental illness is a bitch :D
Stormwind13 28th May 2014, 8:03 PM edit delete reply

Yeah and it probably can't be detected only by checking the genes. I was just talking about making sure Douchebag was a Livius.
Rashala 28th May 2014, 10:00 PM edit delete reply

and *hands Centy a poster* Genetic Screening and PRevention Only YOU *shows centy pointsing at the reader* Can prevent This *and Under that is a picture of Decius* And under that picture the words* "HAve your unborn child genetically screened today!!"
Tokyo Rose 29th May 2014, 5:15 PM edit delete reply

He's definitely a Livius.
Sheela 28th May 2014, 3:11 AM edit delete reply

So that's how she managed to get medical care with Luna technology.
A Prince uses his rank and political weight to get it done.

I'm guessing, that despite not asking for freedom for her, she got it anyways ?
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 5:48 PM edit delete reply

wait till next page :D
Stormwind13 28th May 2014, 7:18 PM edit delete reply

I'm thinking that Irene was probably 'given' to Maxus as a boon. And she was probably 'freed' before the words had died off. :-D
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 7:47 PM edit delete reply

next page will explain that :D
Sheela 28th May 2014, 10:12 PM edit delete reply

Alternatively, Maxus is free, and she isn't - But - The prince decides Maxus owns her.

So technically, she wouldn't be free (she'd be owned by Maxus), but in actual day-to-day, she is, because Maxus deems it so.
In return, the Prince got himself a new bodyguard / general / guard, in Maxus, as payment for the favors he need to pull to get his hands on Luna tech.

ie. Maxus is free and owns himself, but works for the city state to pay off her medical items.
Tokyo Rose 29th May 2014, 5:20 PM edit delete reply

One small detail that I worked in can be found in the names. Slaves who are born into slavery don't have surnames of their own; it's traditional for a newly-freed slave to take a surname that honors the person who manumitted them.
Stormwind13 29th May 2014, 8:06 PM edit delete reply

Oh cool, Rose. I had heard about that before, but didn't even THINK about where Maxus' last name would have came from. Thank you for bringing that point up. :-)
Stormwind13 28th May 2014, 5:55 AM edit delete reply

Looking at Irene here, compared to how beautiful she was before, makes me want to kill that SOB again.
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 5:48 PM edit delete reply

I know right ? but she did keep a lot of her looks.
Stormwind13 28th May 2014, 7:59 PM edit delete reply

Absolutely, CentComm. I was just commenting on her condition at the moment. I mean Irene is horribly injured. All the more-so because of the desecration of the beauty she possessed.

The beauty of Irene's spirit is undiminshed. Lynn is benefiting from that now. :-)
Lalverson 28th May 2014, 6:20 PM edit delete reply
This is the kind of stuff that elevates the art form. very very VERY well done!
Centcomm 28th May 2014, 6:35 PM edit delete reply

awesome ! Thank you bunches for that :D
mjkj 29th May 2014, 6:50 AM edit delete reply

Awwww...

He is so caring...

...and poor Irene. You are right, she was quite beautiful - and now after recovering she still is - even with the scars. And I believe Maxus' care took care of the emotional scars.

I am glad for Maxus' selflessness to have Irene treated the best way possible - I think the reason Irene lives where she does now is to remove her from the place of her suffering as well as to take her out of the picture...

I wonder how Lynn is taking the story...

*looking forward to the next updates*

Stormwind13 29th May 2014, 4:35 PM edit delete reply

We all are looking forward to the next update! :-D

And CentComm teases us and torments us by making us wait and wait and wait! :-)

Maxus and Irene are both exceptional people. I'm glad they found each other and still have each other, despite the trials. I'm also glad that Acantha fell into the sphere of influence. They are the family that she needs (along with that crazy 'uncle', Aeneas :-D). And now Lynn is added to that family as the sister. :-)
Tokyo Rose 29th May 2014, 5:21 PM edit delete reply

Wacky Uncle Aeneas. This is sounding like an epic sitcom :D
Stormwind13 29th May 2014, 6:29 PM edit delete reply

Get on that, Rose! It would be more fun to watch than a LOT of the programs on TV now. :-D
