No, I did not make an error in the line about Terran gravity being one-third stronger. Luna realized pretty early on that one-sixth gravity has its drawbacks, and they've used grav tech the same way we use HVAC--to customize their indoor environment. (Since all of Luna's habitable environment is "indoors", that's pretty much everywhere.)

Luna must be a fascinating place.

Must make a trip there one day. Is it fun for tourists?
Beltboy 6th Jun 2014, 4:11 AM edit delete reply

"It's the happiest place orbiting Earth!"
plymayer 6th Jun 2014, 7:04 AM edit delete reply

:)

I like happy places.
Sheela 6th Jun 2014, 8:34 AM edit delete reply

Hrm ... do all lunarians like glitter ?
He looks like a giant disco-ball.
Tokyo Rose 6th Jun 2014, 6:16 PM edit delete reply

It's a fashion statement.

Don't ask me what it's actually stating. Maybe it's just "I <3 SPARKLES".
Sheela 6th Jun 2014, 7:01 PM edit delete reply

Maybe lunarians just like shiny stuff ...

Heck, even the "medic maid" that Irene got from them is shiny (I'm talking about Lexy offcourse").
mjkj 6th Jun 2014, 4:01 AM edit delete reply

Wow, Loonies and Epiphytes :D

Maxus indeed moved heaven and earth (and moon) ;) - so sweet of him...

Great to see Irene rise again :)

*hugs her*

*grrs at phone* let me see the alt text! Stupid "smart" phone...
mjkj 6th Jun 2014, 8:48 AM edit delete reply

Easy there...

Depending on browser and/or operating system: you can see the alt text when long "clicking" at the image (above the copy, open in... etc. commands)
velvetsanity 6th Jun 2014, 8:44 PM edit delete reply

Tried that. It didn't work which is why I grred at it. Just get a partially visible url and the save/copy/view buttons

Irene is about to use Glomp on Maxus, followed by intense sex - It will be SUPER effective ! :D

Meanwhile the Lunarian and the Epiphyte will stand around like a pair of cheerleaders, egging Irene on and telling Maxus that the sex is a great test for their nano frame and he better go at it like he mean it!

As for how he got them down there in the first place ? Methinks that Maxus asked for a favor from Acantha's father, the Prince. So now he owes Acantha's father a favor, but as long as he has Irene, he don't mind.

The favor carries over to his children after he dies, and is part of why Maxus is still around in Nova Roma trying to fix the whole Decimus mess, rather than just finding a new place to live.
Tokyo Rose 6th Jun 2014, 4:17 PM edit delete reply

Maxus didn't have to ask for a separate favor--the boon he requested was the best medical care possible for Irene (*not* just "the best medical care Roma can offer"), and Prince Valerius granted it. When it became clear that the local medical community wasn't going to be able to do the job, Maxus had the clearance to contact Luna and negotiate.

As for why he's still in Nova Roma . . . he's a patriot, he idolized Prince Valerius, and he's Prefect of the Praetorian Guard. As Prefect, Maxus is automatically obligated to serve the throne, no matter whose ass is on it. He could choose to resign, but he can actually do things to help from where he is right now, curbing excesses and maintaining control. He won't just resign his post and bail, leaving his entire beloved city-state, Valerius's memory, and Valerius's sane daughter to the nonexistent mercy of Prince Decimus.
Sheela 6th Jun 2014, 7:04 PM edit delete reply

Ah, that makes more sense than my crazy speculations. :D

Mind you, I still think having the lunarian stand and cheer for Irene to have sex with Maxus in order to test the nano frame, is a hilarious thought!
anonymous coward 6th Jun 2014, 8:44 PM edit delete reply
Hilarious thought though it may be it's been my experience that most people don't treat sex as a spectator sport or performance art. My background and upbringing and socioeconomic situation are many centuries removed from this world and place however....
Sheela 6th Jun 2014, 10:02 PM edit delete reply

... you've never been to a "red light district", have you ?
anonymous coward 8th Jun 2014, 1:23 AM edit delete reply
In my misspent youth I worked security in one. At the time it was mostly scuzzy regulars and out-of-towners, ugly people and creeps that would pay for titty bars or prostitutes though.
" Around 2009 the porn industry's revenue, 10 billion dollars[clarification needed] a year, was more than the combined revenue of professional sports and live music combined. "
That's higher than I expected, and I guess that means you're right then and many people are so dumb they spend lots of time and money on watching something that's far less boring to do. How sad.
Rashala 6th Jun 2014, 11:59 AM edit delete reply

Well Lunar natural gravity even Micro gragivty would cause some Serious Health issues for humans born and adapted to it should they ever try to return to earth So it makes total sense they'd Use tech to minimize the negatives of the locations gravitic effects on people

*thumbs up to rose and I am sure she has NEVER....reprogrammed an annoying luna's Suit to the point where it had him pined to the ceiling or floor for a while"
Tokyo Rose 6th Jun 2014, 4:17 PM edit delete reply

Oh, no, I've never done that once.

Tokyo Rose 6th Jun 2014, 6:14 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 6th Jun 2014, 7:06 PM edit delete reply

Looking back through what might be called the Little Flower arc I'm struck by the age progressions in Irene and Maxus. Really nice job on the character models, Cent.

Good set of compositions on this page, too. Panel 1 in particular is excellent!

Alt Text?! Where? How?
mjkj 7th Jun 2014, 5:01 PM edit delete reply

Most pictures here have an alt text where Cent gives an extra / snarky / etc. remark about the update - just hover your mouse over the image...
