OK I assume this is what Calli is watching while Mira is waiting to pose as Miss Swiss Cheese. Question>>>>How much grief was Evil-1 able to raise over Fallon coming into Helios Towers as a resident and as Calli's husband?<<<<<

Happy Gregorian New Year all
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 12:26 AM edit delete reply

Probably very little, Dragonrider. Calliope brought him in and said this is my life mate. CentComm probably was like, but, but... Calliope, THIS IS MY LIFE MATE, deal with it! :-D

I think Calliope was once upon a time a lot more decisive than she has been shown in the comics up until now. The loss of Fallon cost her that along with the love of her life. :-7
cattservant 1st Jan 2014, 5:04 AM edit delete reply

Also, good physical genes are highly prized.
Consider Calliope's mother or Kyle's sister's boyfriend.
Centcomm 1st Jan 2014, 2:38 PM edit delete reply

Yes this is a VID Calli is watching per the title this is a bit earlier than the hallway standoff :D
Sheela 1st Jan 2014, 12:07 AM edit delete reply

Argh ... Mira has been cliffhangered !

EEEevil Centcomm !
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 12:15 AM edit delete reply

Duh, Sheela! I mean, I've been telling people that for MONTHS (it would be longer, but I hadn't FOUND the comic until then)! :-D
Dragonrider 1st Jan 2014, 12:18 AM edit delete reply

Why do you think I renamed her Evil-1
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 12:24 AM edit delete reply

Starts handing out pitchforks and torches to the (soon to be) outraged readers of Data Chasers. :-D
Centcomm 1st Jan 2014, 2:48 PM edit delete reply

Sorry about that .. really - however for the next part of Mira's scene to make sense the readers need some background to put things into perspective - this WILL all make sense trust me - and give you a LOT of insight on whats happening :D
Antonious 1st Jan 2014, 8:08 PM edit delete reply

Of course Centcomm *snicker* we understand.

Translation: Providing background information is a valid excuse to be evil and leave pretty girls in dire straights.

Actually, while this is going on Mira, Krystal and the doll are relaxing and having a girl chat. Vinnie and the reapers are discussing the finer points of maintenance and tactics, as well as which repair shop gives the best deals.
Stormwind13 2nd Jan 2014, 1:25 PM edit delete reply

LOL Antonious.

And you have got CentComm PEGGED. Evil but with a valid reason to do things the EVIL way. I still think we need to get the torch and pitchfork brigade out and call her on her EVILNESS. :-)
Sheela 2nd Jan 2014, 9:09 PM edit delete reply

And Vinnie finally remembers the lines he was supposed to feed to Officer Allie. :)
jamie59 1st Jan 2014, 12:16 AM edit delete reply

Got to love oh too formal Dolly. Guess he never got around to taking her out drinking sense she got herself so waisted when she did.
Dragonrider 1st Jan 2014, 12:18 AM edit delete reply

His best friend did it for him.
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 12:28 AM edit delete reply

If not more than friends, Dragonrider. I'm wondering if they weren't related.
Centcomm 1st Jan 2014, 2:51 PM edit delete reply

The Bar incident with Fallon and Dolly may or may not have happened- remember Dolly enjoyed Fallons effect on Calli and Dolly is VERY protective but he passed her Muster .. And Caillopes fathers inspection too .. as far as Breaker and Fallon who knows but they do not have the same faces ( they do have similar complexions ( side effect of the deep wastes )
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 3:55 PM edit delete reply

Well we are pretty sure that Fallon didn't get Dolly sh!tfaced. Didn't sound like she was ever exposed to the exotic liquors of the wastes though. Not with the way she turned into a sponge in Joleet at least.
velvetsanity 1st Jan 2014, 4:23 PM edit delete reply

There are some pretty huge differences between synthahol and real alcohol...in the wastes, it's real alcohol.
Centcomm 1st Jan 2014, 6:11 PM edit delete reply

also remember a model 3 body would process it diffrently than a model FIVE body :D thats also what nailed Dolly ..
Stormwind13 2nd Jan 2014, 1:36 PM edit delete reply

Well true; however, on the page Plastic People, Dolly tells Breaker she had only had Synth. She also confesses to not knowing that drinking got better the more you imbibed. Which pretty much tells me that Fallon never got to take her barhopping. :-)
velvetsanity 2nd Jan 2014, 11:09 PM edit delete reply

It's the difference between synth and real alcohol, and the body differences. Remember, she hasn't had the model 5 body long enough to even try synth.
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 12:22 AM edit delete reply

I'm seeing some similarities between Breaker and Fallon. They don't appear to be the same person; however, they could possibly be brothers. And they appear to have the same mannerisms, some of the same wit and similar methods of renaming those they are interacting with (though calling Calliope just pretty could be taken as an INSULT :-D)
mjkj 1st Jan 2014, 2:03 AM edit delete reply

I think they are supposed to be closer than brothers...
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 11:09 AM edit delete reply

People that depend on each other to stay alive frequently HAVE to be closer than brothers. All I'm saying is that I see a resemblance between Fallon and Breaker (am I the only one seeing the resemblance?). I'm wondering if they are ALSO brothers on top of having been in the same mercenary group. :-)
mjkj 1st Jan 2014, 11:25 AM edit delete reply

What I meant was they are probably the same person.
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 2:24 PM edit delete reply

Can't see it mjkj. I mean, Dolly, Calliope and possibly even Lynn saw him die from a head shot with an EXPLOSIVE round. It is possible to survive a head shot; however, it is astonishingly rare. That goes out of the window when explosive ammo is used. :-p

Now, unless you are saying the body they saw (and I'm reasonably sure someone checked DNA on) wasn't Fallon, but another person that looked enough like him that he could 'escape' the chains of love Calliope had on him. :-7 Doesn't compute to me. :-) I think it was Fallon that died, Breaker was a friend/brother to him and got out of the biz because of what happened to Fallon. That is what I think happened. :-)
Centcomm 1st Jan 2014, 2:52 PM edit delete reply

Okay.. Fallons Death is a confimrmed fact. after he died his body was brought back to New Troy Dolly made sure of that. Lynn does not remember much of that day due to the fact she was four and Calli remembers WAY too much.
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 2:58 PM edit delete reply

Thank you, CentComm (you evil soul, you). I couldn't see them NOT checking to make sure it was Fallon. I mean as paranoid as New Troy is, I couldn't believe they WOULDN'T check the body. :-)

And yeah, Lynn probably doesn't remember much being 4, but she was probably WAY too close to the action. As I remember Dolly smacked Calliope to break her hysterics, handed Lynn to Calliope, picked up Fallon's gun and pulled a Terminator on the gutters (except she was NOT interested in keeping them alive).
Centcomm 1st Jan 2014, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

exactly - Dolly litterally killed everything around her trying to protect Calli and Lynn and it was a very very ugly fight. Dolly proabably did not even look remotely human by the end of it.

There is a reason she hates gutters so much.
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 3:38 PM edit delete reply

One needs a reason? :-D
Centcomm 1st Jan 2014, 6:12 PM edit delete reply

no not really...
Sheela 2nd Jan 2014, 9:12 PM edit delete reply

Only *one* reason ?
Stormwind13 2nd Jan 2014, 9:54 PM edit delete reply

Probably more like one reason PER gutter... :-)
velvetsanity 2nd Jan 2014, 11:09 PM edit delete reply

Try one reason per round of ammo. :D

We haven't seen too much of Calliope to date. Cliffhangers notwithstanding, I'll take this opportunity to see more of her. She and Lynn are arguably the most powerful people in New Troy even if they don't know it. They have the power to reprogram CentComm due to their DNA if I remember rightly. We know more about Lynn than her mother and I have been hoping for something like this for a while, so thanks. Also, I've always liked to see Dolly as she was before the upgrade. Seems kinda vulnerable despite being a badass bodyguard, strangely enough. Another example (of many)of how good CentComm and Rose are at what they do. Happy new year, all!
Stormwind13 1st Jan 2014, 11:04 AM edit delete reply

As I understand it Don, that isn't quite right. Maybe CentComm (evil entity that she is) will grace us with a definitive answer; however, as I remember it Taylor's descendants can't reprogram CentComm.

I program so I can kind of understand the depth of the task here. I'm pretty good at reading other people's code, provided I can understand what they were trying to do.

Trying to read, understand and then rewrite CentComm's code would be a Herculean task. I mean, the core code is still there; however, as demands on her increased over time I imagine she had to add/alter peripheral code to the point that it would be beyond human ability to make sense of it all. And I doubt even the original coding is documented, anywhere. Lost in the war... or to CentComm's shredders so that no one COULD reprogram her.

Anyhow, as I understand it Taylor's decedents were given the ability to (using an example I know you should get from David Weber's works - Dahak Series) they have been granted Alpha command authority. When they give an order to CentComm, she has no choice but to IMPLEMENT it. Her core programming still contains the Alpha authorizations and is still tied to the Taylor DNA.

So while the Taylor's exist, CentComm is going to have to obey them. Furthermore, I'm willing to bet that Helios Taylor issued an Alpha command after linking in that CentComm has to protect and PRESERVE the Taylor line at all costs. She might be able to sacrifice Lynn, because Calliope is still around, but I don't think CentComm can order any of the Taylor's murders nor push them into a situation that would likely result in their murders.

If the Taylor's were to all die, I imagine that CentComm has the necessary genetic material stored and commands long since given her for her to restart the line. I don't think CentComm can slip the (DNA) chains that hold her to the Taylor's. :-)

Now, CentComm CAN (and is) keeping them as ignorant as possible of the power that they wield over her. Apparently Helios didn't think about that possibility, so never issued an Alpha level command to prevent it. A loophole that CentComm is ruthlessly using, I think.
Dragonrider 1st Jan 2014, 1:46 PM edit delete reply

Excellent summation of Evil-1 Stormwind, as I said earlier she is in survival mode because she knows Calli can limit her authority and can order her to submit major decisions for review, ie her order to execute Lynn. Calli can also make her mount an overt military rescue backed up be the threat of obliteration of the ruling class of Nova Roma and sowing salt where the black tower stands, er stood.
Centcomm 1st Jan 2014, 3:03 PM edit delete reply

Okay gonna try to answer a bit here - "re-writing" a AI code is kind of misleading the AI structure is like a supercharged massive human mind hundreds of orders faster than us. memorys and structures although resembling code are not. and are not human editiable -- however WHAT the taylor family has is a Gene-key that allows them "command access" basicly if Calliope said Cent GO get Lynn use everything you have NOW throw it ALL - cent would have no choice but to mobilize everything she has likewise if Calliope ordered her to obey prince Drekhead Cent would HAVE to obey. or self distruct ( suicide ) cent CAN NOT ALLOW the prince to get his hands on her war assets esp not her pre-war levels ) and yes she also has to protect the taylor line ( to a point ) it does get a bit complex but it will all be explained as we go ..
Don B. 1st Jan 2014, 11:07 PM edit delete reply

Dolly does not look much like a 2-E model here. She's got the right skin but none of the overt mechanical articulation or plate-hair.
antrik 10th Oct 2016, 4:16 AM edit delete reply
Note that the last time you saw the "old" dolly, it was on early work that hasn't been "remastered" yet (though that's soon to change I suppose); if you look back to the first encounter on the other hand, it is similar to what we see here.

As for the "overt mechanical articulation", I'm not sure what to make of it either. I guess it was toned down on purpose in the newer renders -- but that makes it look like body paint rather than anything mechanical, which makes no sense at all :-(
