Again, I say " !!! ".
Thor 7th Apr 2015, 9:46 PM edit delete reply
HA! Rose didn't actually trust Unreliable Boy enough to do his job with his brain, so she set it up that he could do his job with his blood. Brilliant! Useful despite his best efforts!
Sheela 8th Apr 2015, 9:56 AM edit delete reply

Useful, despite being dead.

Now that is a proper backup plan. :)
Dragonrider 7th Apr 2015, 9:57 PM edit delete reply

Been a long time coming unfortunately SFB will take this chance to degrade her further.
Barreytor 7th Apr 2015, 10:02 PM edit delete reply

And he was doing so well at being a ninja, up until the part where he didn't. And now he just isn't.
DLKmusic 7th Apr 2015, 10:04 PM edit delete reply

That's new, the nanobots in the bloodstream was a twist I wasn't expecting.

anonymous coward 8th Apr 2015, 9:49 PM edit delete reply
Why? If you go back in the archive, he'd obviously been tweaked by T.R. physically. The part about that I find most confusing is that nanobots would be useful for rebuilding a live AIS.
DLKmusic 9th Apr 2015, 4:48 PM edit delete reply

That's exactly the point, I was expecting them to be of the "Organic Repair" type, not the "Computer Repair" type.
Deo 7th Apr 2015, 10:11 PM edit delete reply

Haegan2005 7th Apr 2015, 10:31 PM edit delete reply

I must say, Lynn is taking this all rather calmly...

Though by the end of her pithy commentary, Decimus should be well outside of the room if I know my Cassian. All the same, I have this funny feeling that what we see in Lynn, will also be seen in her mother. That is a scary thought if you live in this city and happen to be in this particular room.

Though I am not certain if Cally can declare open war on her own or not. This particular part of her station has not really been made clear. I think I faintly remember something about a ruling council?

On a side note, Lynn has been rather passive, come what may. I have this funny feeling that this is changing.

Nope, the roller coaster is still going down, picking up speed.
Sheela 8th Apr 2015, 9:58 AM edit delete reply

Calli can straight up command Centcomm to begin the attack, wether or not the council agrees.

That's the bit that Centcomm really doesn't like.
mjkj 7th Apr 2015, 11:20 PM edit delete reply

I wonder what Setorius is thinking...

Hmmm, those nanobots could repair kyle, too...?

What are the Cassians doing now?

*looking forward to the next updates*

...and I love the reflections on the knife-blade...

Sheela 8th Apr 2015, 9:59 AM edit delete reply

But why use the nano-bots to repair Kyle, if they can repair Aeneas ?

Priorities, my good man, priorities!
mjkj 9th Apr 2015, 7:05 AM edit delete reply

True Sheela...

But Lynn will feel and be better if they do...
Lukkai 8th Apr 2015, 5:45 PM edit delete reply
I don't think they could. There's a slight difference between the body of a human and an A.I.S.
ProfEtheric 7th Apr 2015, 11:30 PM edit delete reply

Justifiable rage. And she's right. They let Decimus run the place, despite the clear and present danger his policies and madness present to the place. He reminds me of a certain mad Roman emperor (though seemingly less lusty than the portrayal I know best), and seriously needs to come to the same end.

There is still a LOT going on we don't have enough info on, plus plot twists like the nanos in idiot-boy's blood. As I said before, I'm not even hazarding guesses at this point, just hanging on tight for the duration of the ride.

It's official. I'm frakkin' hooked, jonesing like a junkoe who's been thrown out of the methadone clinic for the next update...
Fairportfan 8th Apr 2015, 1:44 AM edit delete reply

One of the duties of the Praetorian Guard, as i recall, was to remove the Emperor if he went too bughouse.
Stormwind13 8th Apr 2015, 3:10 AM edit delete reply

I agree Prof, Lynn is justified in her rage; however, she is just lashing out at targets. I don't think she means everything she is spouting. I also don't think she is going to go far taking a knife to a gunfight.

And Fairport, the problem with that is the Contingencies. Until someone can counteract those, no one is going to be removing Deck.
Guest 9th Apr 2015, 2:11 PM edit delete reply
Only if you don't consider blowing the entire rathole of a city to nanosmithereens a welcome bonus.

Alternatively, she could kill Miraiko. She was the one who killed him just as much as Decimus, and arguably with fr less justification. He wasn't pointing a gun at her, after all.
Stormwind13 9th Apr 2015, 3:35 PM edit delete reply

True, Guest; however, I truly doubt Lynn realizes the part Miraiko played in Kyle's demise. Dropping the wine could have been a fear accident after all (we KNOW it wasn't, but Lynn isn't privy to that).
Cicero 10th Apr 2015, 12:30 AM edit delete reply

Not yet, no. But she's a smart girl, once she get over the initial rage, she might just go over what happened in her mind and notice something off.

If someone is going to drop a something in fear, you'd expect it to happen either when he pulled the gun or when he got shot, NOT during the standoff. And het actions immediately afterwards don't betray any panic either. She's there by his corpse in a heartbeat, cool as a cucumber.

I admit, this is mostly because I want to see Lynn gut the little bitch like a fish for what she did. Yes, he was a dumb kid, and he wasn't going to get out of this one alive, but that doesn't excuse that she knowingly and deliberately caused his death. He didn't deserve to be murdered by the people he thought were his allies.

Right now, Tokyo Rose and Miraiko top my personal Need To Die Horribly-list. Yes, edging out even Prince Douchebag. He's scum, but at least he has insanity for an excuse.
Stormwind13 10th Apr 2015, 9:09 PM edit delete reply

You make a very valid point, Cicero. If Lynn looks back upon the events and can separate her emotions from the events, she might notice something.

I'm thinking she'll have trouble doing that. In fact, with the emotional trauma of the events, I'm wondering if she'll be able to remember it at ALL! Amnesia isn't that uncommon from traumatic events like that.
HiFranc 11th Apr 2015, 4:21 AM edit delete reply

To remember you actually have to be paying attention. She stopped paying attention when she saw Kyle.
Tango Xray Actual 8th Apr 2015, 3:18 AM edit delete reply
It's 'improv' time for everybody!

No one's plans are surviving contact with Kyle!
Sheela 8th Apr 2015, 10:01 AM edit delete reply

Well .. TeeDee's plans survive contact with anything. :)
Haegan2005 8th Apr 2015, 5:15 PM edit delete reply

shoot it until it dies is a plan that is REALLY hard to derail I agree!
Lukkai 8th Apr 2015, 5:47 PM edit delete reply
Only by lack of ammo, I guess.
Stormwind13 9th Apr 2015, 9:50 AM edit delete reply

Shoot those that can shoot back first, Lukkai. Then appropriate their ammo and repeat until all those are done. THEN you shoot anyone else that gets in the way.

Sometimes the simplest plans are the best.
Lukkai 9th Apr 2015, 7:27 PM edit delete reply
And now you're thinking like a runner!

Like a crazy-ass runner who'll get a TPK his third run the latest, but like a runner nonetheless.
Fairportfan 9th Apr 2015, 9:16 PM edit delete reply

There is no "cease fire" - there is only "open fire" and "reload"
Fairportfan 9th Apr 2015, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

Moar dakka!
Greenwood Goat 8th Apr 2015, 4:20 AM edit delete reply
So, Kyle will live on through his blood, although I don't suppose the nanobots would be complex enough to bear any of his personality across...

Kali: Our late emperor was killed when this high-security blastproof door slammed on him. Repeatedly. In a sort of victory clap. We have been unable to trace the malfunction, which hasn't recurred, and...

Malati: Yadda yadda yadda, imperator mortuus est, vivat imperatrix! I'm off to join the celebrations! Don't wait up! *snaps fingers, points* Hey, door... you're alright! *swings hand into doorway, palm out, fingers up*

High-security door: *slides rapidly from open to half-closed* - *high "fives" Malati*

mjkj 8th Apr 2015, 6:41 AM edit delete reply

Wow, nice door... :D
Sheela 8th Apr 2015, 10:02 AM edit delete reply

They have the best doors in the palace.

You should see the city gate though, it's massively jelly on the door, 'cause it has tried to get to Decimus many times in the past.
cattservant 8th Apr 2015, 4:24 AM edit delete reply

Damn! And I was thinking Kyle had already done the repair job before he became terminally stupid.
Stormwind13 8th Apr 2015, 7:38 AM edit delete reply

catt, how could think that?!? Kyle needed Lynn so he could get Acantha to get him into Aeneas without get turned into a crispy critter.

Now Kyle is about to turned into fertilizer. :-\
Sheela 8th Apr 2015, 10:04 AM edit delete reply

Aha, but ... this is actually even better, as Aeneas only shoot at living people.

So now they can just load Kyle on a delivery drone and deliver the carcass to Aeneas with a letter on how to extract the nano-bots for repairs. :)
Stormwind13 8th Apr 2015, 10:46 AM edit delete reply

Yeah Sheela, except that Aeneas will get distracted by something shiny and leave the carcass out in the hallway until starts to smell. Then he'll pitch it because it smells. :-p. Part of the problem with Aeneas being broken.
Haegan2005 8th Apr 2015, 5:16 PM edit delete reply

Actually is not a bad alternative plan.
VanEzzania 8th Apr 2015, 6:42 AM edit delete reply

This is just escalating and I know it will not end well.
Sheela 8th Apr 2015, 10:04 AM edit delete reply

Are you kidding?
It already ended well. :)
highlander55 8th Apr 2015, 4:01 PM edit delete reply

Not done yet. Organ harvest would be next.
Sheela 9th Apr 2015, 2:34 AM edit delete reply

Pfft, surely we don't need any of Kyle ingering around ?
DLKmusic 9th Apr 2015, 4:57 PM edit delete reply

I'm... gonna go out on a limb and risk Cent-Comm's Ire here.... I wish we had gotten to know Kyle a little better, because I'm sure he wasn't just a flashy paint job, and had something under the hood, as it were.
Dragonrider 8th Apr 2015, 6:50 AM edit delete reply

A thought just occurred to me if Kyle's blood is required to fix Aeneas this has always been a one way mission for Kyle, an unknowing Kamikaze.
Stormwind13 8th Apr 2015, 7:31 AM edit delete reply

I'm thinking his blood wasn't required to fix, Aeneas. At least not ALL of it. There's no reason the nanobots couldn't be extracted with minimal blood loss.

To me it just shows Rose's thoroughness in planning for eventualities. If things had gone as planned, I think they would have been used to do a lot of the grunt work and left Kyle to do the trickier programming himself.
Sheela 8th Apr 2015, 10:05 AM edit delete reply

I dunno, I kinda like the idea that it was alrways meant to be a oneway trip for Kyle.

Shows how nasty Rose can be, when she puts her mind to it.
Stormwind13 8th Apr 2015, 10:41 AM edit delete reply

Possible Sheela, but I don't see it. To my thinking, Rose is extremely practical. Not nasty. I truly think Rose meant it when she said she was working to get EVERYONE home, despite the odds.
Francisco 8th Apr 2015, 12:24 PM edit delete reply
From the last panel, it was clear that this was not part of the plan.

I kind of agree with both of you. I don't think that it was meant to be a suicide mission but, as Rose decided to send him in the field despite him repeatedly showing that he doesn't have the mindset for such a mission, she was acting a bit reckless with Plan A (therefore, Plan B was more necessary).

I suspect that, as he's Lynn's boyfriend, Rose was hoping that would make it easier to talk Acantha into granting access.
Francisco 8th Apr 2015, 12:15 PM edit delete reply
Don't forget that there's another AI engineer en route to them. She is a lot more experienced and has a lot more self control.
Tokyo Rose 9th Apr 2015, 3:48 PM edit delete reply

Who, Dr. Silver? She's on an entirely different mission, and her area of expertise isn't A.I. on this scale.
Stormwind13 9th Apr 2015, 4:56 PM edit delete reply

Dr. Silver MIGHT be able to fix Aeneas up; however, she might traumatize Aeneas with her bitching while she was doing it. :-D So he would have access to all his systems again, but he would be HIDING in his core, afraid of coming out where Dr. Silver could interact with him!

And no, if I remember correctly Dr. Silver is specialized into Robotics, Weapon Systems and Android tech, not AI tech. She could probably do the job, just not quickly.
DLKmusic 9th Apr 2015, 5:00 PM edit delete reply

Well, Dr. Silver DID adjust CeCi's programming on the fly, so if AI isn't her expertise, she's still pretty damn good at it.

Although, Focusing on the mission at hand is gonna keep her hands full, so she probably won't have time, even if she knew it could be done.
Kitty 8th Apr 2015, 10:23 AM edit delete reply

Love how Acantha's concern is for Lynn, not her dear ol' big brother. I don't think she'd mourn much if Lynn actually knifed Decimus.

And the reflection on the silverware is a lovely touch.
Lukkai 8th Apr 2015, 5:53 PM edit delete reply
Actually I think she's judging combat abilities correctly here. Yes, Lynn has been trained. But Decimus has been trained both harder and more than her (even though some of that training was actually Maxus punishing him for something really bad and stupid).

I don't see how Maxus should not be able to grab her weapon arm and then just carry her out of the way though. Might take a toll on her arm, but that can be fixed.
Rashala 8th Apr 2015, 2:27 PM edit delete reply

Mount Saint Lynn has exploded......And If deci even Scratches her.....Wow... Mental image of dolly doing anatomically impossible htings to him*

On a side note Just watches the new DEus Ex Trailer...and while watching it...I could hear Tedee in my head Droolign over Jensen and his new upgrades and combat tactics.
Lukkai 8th Apr 2015, 5:56 PM edit delete reply
Ever seen Nostromo's take on Deus Ex?

If not, take a look at this (hope I'm getting the code right):
Cperka 9th Apr 2015, 12:15 AM edit delete reply

And here I thought a week ago, that Jensen's story has ended... but well, here he goes again, and it doesn't look like Invisible War, and I drooled a little too :D
Sheela 9th Apr 2015, 2:43 AM edit delete reply

Oh, that was a nice video. :)
The Old Scribe 8th Apr 2015, 2:58 PM edit delete reply

Poor ol' Kyle; he was a FedX truck for nannies and didn't know it. I wonder if CentComm planned to bleed him white and then refill him; if she meant to refill him at all. Now that he's rushed the program a tad and rattled Prince Douchebags cage, the fun can really begin.

Lynn's got the Eye Of The Tiger, just like her Mom. I want her to be the one to off Douchebag.
DLKmusic 8th Apr 2015, 5:19 PM edit delete reply

I don't, because she's not thinking with her head right now, and Kyle just demonstrated WHY you have to use your head when dealing with Decimus.
Until she calms down a little and starts thinking clearly on HOW to kill Decimus, rushing in like that is only going to get her killed.
Guest 8th Apr 2015, 3:04 PM edit delete reply
Can anyone point me to when Kyle finally arrived to the city?

I've been meaning to find out, why the hell does he have a gun in the first place? If Rose was going to allow him to help at all, it should have been foreseen what a young brash teenager would do with a gun.

Like... to me this entire arc just goes out the window because I half expected something to happen with Dolly & Ceci. Not Kyle.

If anything he should have just been there for tactical support "Hey I'm here lynn, this is whats going on" sort of deal.
Guest 8th Apr 2015, 3:10 PM edit delete reply
Sorry, nvm. I remember now he "borrowed" it from his parents while they don't know.
Stormwind13 8th Apr 2015, 3:18 PM edit delete reply

And I don't think Rose realized he had it either. It isn't registered to him, but to his sister (back in MY OFFICE!!! - 1 August 2012). So he SHOULDN'T have them and he collected them without going thru any channels, so I think we have proof that Rose isn't infallible, just damn good.
Sheela 9th Apr 2015, 2:56 AM edit delete reply

Shh, don't say that out loud, she might hear you!
Tokyo Rose 9th Apr 2015, 3:50 PM edit delete reply

Oh, his possession of a gun was not unnoticed. The degree to which he lacked possession of common sense, however, was not accurately estimated . . .
Stormwind13 9th Apr 2015, 5:36 PM edit delete reply

Young male, young female and a GUN... You should have KNOWN he would be stupid, Rose. I mean, males about that age are almost uniformly STUPID when a female is involved :-P
Sheela 10th Apr 2015, 3:51 AM edit delete reply

Well, at least his lack of common sense have now been terminated. :)

... hopefully.
KarToon12 8th Apr 2015, 3:48 PM edit delete reply

Lynn, no, wait! Forget the knife! I can throw my tiara at Deck, Sailor Moon style! XDXD
Lukkai 8th Apr 2015, 5:59 PM edit delete reply

ARG! Tiaras! My only weakness!
Timotheus 8th Apr 2015, 5:41 PM edit delete reply

For some reason my principle thought upon viewing this episode has been that that is one heck of a wimpy looking steak knife and she could do more damage with a table fork.
velvetsanity 8th Apr 2015, 6:35 PM edit delete reply

Steak knives generally *are* pretty flimsy.
Tango Xray Actual 8th Apr 2015, 10:14 PM edit delete reply
If it is a cheap one, it might just have a full tang and slab sides... if the steel is better than fair, it just might hold up; but that ain't the way to hold a knife (sorry to quibble again.)

Wonder if she's gonna go point or slash for the major arteries.... if she can get that close.
Centcomm 8th Apr 2015, 10:34 PM edit delete reply

lynn has NO combat training with a knife.. be thankful shes not pointing it at herself. Any mishandling of weapons by Lynn is not a oversight :D
Fjolsvith 8th Apr 2015, 11:03 PM edit delete reply

Okay, I forgive you for offing Kyle. I like the idea of T. Rose using him to smuggle repair nanobots into the place!
howard 9th Apr 2015, 12:17 AM edit delete reply
Well I take back my previous statement a few pages ago that he was essential to the plot cause he was the one who had to fix the AIS. I guess he is not essential just his blood. lol
Melody_Whyte 9th Apr 2015, 12:19 AM edit delete reply

Hokay. Either we're about to have a dead protagonist, she's gonna get lucky as shit and get Decidouche in the throat, or Maxus is gonna knock her the fuck out to save her life.
Sheela 9th Apr 2015, 3:00 AM edit delete reply

I suspect she will be restrained.

Frankly, at this point, her words might cut deeper than her knife.
And Setorius is listening, oh yes, he is listening to each and every word being said.
Lukkai 9th Apr 2015, 7:32 PM edit delete reply
And having a great time while doing so!

It's not everyday you get treated to this spectacular a show during dinner.

Pass the salt, please.
Sheela 10th Apr 2015, 3:52 AM edit delete reply

Oh my, yes, the salt is important, please do pass it along. :)
Melody_Whyte 9th Apr 2015, 12:20 AM edit delete reply

Also, in the mortal-but-thinks-he's-immortal worlds of Archer...

Centcomm 11th Apr 2015, 3:48 AM edit delete reply

XRzer04 9th Apr 2015, 8:43 PM edit delete reply

Something tells me not to be surprised if we have not seen the last of Kyle. We didn't know about the nanobots, and still don't know exactly how they work. They might function as Assemblers too... I think someone hinted at that somewhere above. They might just contain a single code that aneas only needs to read once. Somebody might stick Kyle in an Emergency Medical Plot Device and regenerate him that way... I don't know how, I'm not even sure I'm right, but I wouldn't be surprised if kyle came back like a bad penny.
JustNoPoint 10th Apr 2015, 8:15 AM edit delete reply

At 1st I thought she grabbed the knife and spoon at the same time! :P

Getting intenseer-er by the page!
Centcomm 11th Apr 2015, 3:48 AM edit delete reply

nah she just grabbed the Steak knife :D
