Poor Acantha. So young to have suffered that much. ::HUGS her::
Sheela 20th Dec 2015, 10:55 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, she hasn't had the most gentle of upbringings.
T1-G3R2501 21st Dec 2015, 2:26 PM edit delete reply
Could be worse..... Boarding school
Stormwind13 21st Dec 2015, 2:52 PM edit delete reply

I think Acantha would take MOST boarding schools over being trapped in the Palace with Douchimus, T1-G3R... I know I wouldn't wish that on anything remotely human.
T1-G3R2501 22nd Dec 2015, 6:32 AM edit delete reply
..... Wait you're all human?!
Stormwind13 22nd Dec 2015, 6:59 PM edit delete reply

Never claimed that, T1-G3R. :-D
Lukkai 22nd Dec 2015, 9:45 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 25th Dec 2015, 1:14 AM edit delete reply

Erhh ... wait, has my cover as a human slipped again ?
Dragonrider 20th Dec 2015, 9:07 PM edit delete reply

OK Kyle got in and is at work. Now is that a pair of Tasers or worse on his arm? Also how is watchdog going to react to Aeneas being repaired?
Centcomm 20th Dec 2015, 10:26 PM edit delete reply

Nope it has a welding laser built into the arm but thats it for weapons/tools they are just manipulators :D
Sheela 20th Dec 2015, 10:56 PM edit delete reply

Still, a welding laser could be plenty dangerous.
And it should be interesting to see Watchdogs reaction.
Hopefully it is favorable.
Dragonrider 21st Dec 2015, 12:18 AM edit delete reply

@Sheela:... Seeing as Calliope Taylor did not instigate the repair, and Centcom was unaware it was going to happen I have a feeling watchdog is not going to be very cooperative.
Lukkai 21st Dec 2015, 2:00 PM edit delete reply

I'd say that Watchdog first and foremost would like to know who and how is doing the repairs. And to what goal.
Hornet 22nd Dec 2015, 6:57 AM edit delete reply
I really doubt watchdog would care much either way, it's a "threat response program". Now it the overseer targeted Ceci with it's welding laser then watchdog would have a response.
Visvires 21st Dec 2015, 4:14 AM edit delete reply
Some welding lasers are rated for space zombies.

I had been wondering what Kyle was up to. I didn't think that trip would happen off screen. Did he survive by stealth, or did TR vouch for him?
antrik 14th Oct 2016, 9:41 AM edit delete reply
I find it odd to see the "deep programming" referred to as "Watchdog". Don't know whether there has been Word Of God on it -- but my understanding is that the "deep programming" is a separate personality, that is overriding both the Ceci personality *and* Watchdog... (Including the morality framework imparted by Dr. Bitchy.)
jamie59 20th Dec 2015, 9:13 PM edit delete reply

So operation fix the crazy AI is underway. Lets hope it goes well. I have a feeling a fully functional Aeneas is the only good solution to prince doucheness's contingencies.
Sheela 20th Dec 2015, 10:56 PM edit delete reply

It would certainly change the game quite a lot.
chk 21st Dec 2015, 12:45 PM edit delete reply

I think so too. A properly functioning Aeneas should be able to access everything in Nova Roma.
pastutopia 20th Dec 2015, 9:16 PM edit delete reply

Wait a moment... a non-psychopathic stabbing sort of android? Those exist? How weird! (from Acantha's perspective...)

Though some of the Cassians seem like they could been a least slightly sane enough on a better day... as Dolly says, New Rome seems be a rough environment for optimism and helpfulness ;)
Sheela 20th Dec 2015, 10:58 PM edit delete reply

Wait, what? Androids can be non-psychotic?
And she's not even trying to stab me?

mjkj 21st Dec 2015, 3:21 PM edit delete reply

Sheela, I guess they just like puppies...
Lukkai 21st Dec 2015, 2:02 PM edit delete reply

I don't think Acantha considers all Cassians to be psychopaths. Honestly, they're not. We've seen that and Acantha is bound to know. But even those that aren't tend to be rather... focused.
Haegan2005 20th Dec 2015, 9:27 PM edit delete reply

Well this answers some questions. I bet Lynn's boyfriend decided it was easier to go above board rather then sneak. That should make this MUCH faster!

As for Acantha, its a pretty reasonable attitude for someone raised in this kind of environment. Loss = Friends I suspect.
Lukkai 21st Dec 2015, 2:03 PM edit delete reply

I'm pretty sure Decimus used any friends she had against her at various points.
HeSerpenty 20th Dec 2015, 9:43 PM edit delete reply

Love the back n forth especially in that second panel, Centy!!
Centcomm 20th Dec 2015, 10:25 PM edit delete reply

Thank you So much! - Im glad it came out good. :D I know im not at 100% yet. and im hoping its not affecting my art too much :D
chk 21st Dec 2015, 12:40 PM edit delete reply

Don't sweat it centcomm. Your 'not at 100% yet' is better than most artist's 100%.

Glad you're feeling better.
Tokyo Rose 21st Dec 2015, 12:07 AM edit delete reply

Cent does her best to make sure there's enough room in each panel for dialogue, though depending on how my scripting goes, it can still be a challenge to make the text layouts flow well. I know how the dialogue runs, of course, so it's not always easy for me to be 100% sure that a reader can follow it. Always glad to know when I succeed. :)
HeSerpenty 21st Dec 2015, 12:35 AM edit delete reply

I tend to struggle with my dialogue placement sometimes XD

It's great you and Centy can work off each other and make a great team!
Mark_L_A 22nd Dec 2015, 11:50 AM edit delete reply

On panels that are full, would putting a transcript in the Authors notes be acceptable?
The Old Scribe 20th Dec 2015, 10:06 PM edit delete reply

04A seems to be pretty casual about his 'boss' undergoing repairs. Aeneas must be okay with it too, since he didn't resist being tinkered with. When he fully awakens, New Rome will be lifted and shaken like dice in a cup. One can only imagine the Prince's baffled fury as his very city turns against him. I wonder if the Cassians will do rock, paper, scissors to see who squeezes the life out of the little bastard.
Sheela 20th Dec 2015, 10:59 PM edit delete reply

Well, it is only Aeneas' greatest wish to be repaired. :)
Not so strange that 04A is amiable towards it.
HiFranc 20th Dec 2015, 11:00 PM edit delete reply

Actually, I doubt Aeneas will act in a way that tells everyone that he's at full power because that's likely to cause mass panic. I foresee Decimus going to try to reset his contingencies and them not responding.
Rashala 20th Dec 2015, 10:18 PM edit delete reply

I forsee a group* Repairs? What repairs?!?!
Sheela 20th Dec 2015, 10:59 PM edit delete reply

Heck, make a couple of repair robots to help Kyle out, and things will go much faster.
HiFranc 20th Dec 2015, 11:11 PM edit delete reply

How do we know that they are not?
Sheela 20th Dec 2015, 11:57 PM edit delete reply

Make more then, there's a lot of repairs to be done.
Stormwind13 21st Dec 2015, 8:27 AM edit delete reply

Yeah but Acantha and Lynn KNOW that Aeneas wasn't in any shape to repair himself. So I'm with Rash on this, expecting worried confusion from those that have been to visit before.
HiFranc 20th Dec 2015, 11:03 PM edit delete reply

It's a good thing that nobody outside knows that Aeneas is being repaired because he seems vulnerable to attack right now. Acantha's party are his first line of defence.
Timotheus 20th Dec 2015, 11:24 PM edit delete reply

Please consider that sufficient repairs to counter "THE CONTINGENCIES" may takes days if not weeks of effort, not to mention actual physical hard wiring of remote locations. But it will be a game changer.
Coordination with Dr. Silver will greatly alter things as well if that can happen.
HiFranc 21st Dec 2015, 12:39 AM edit delete reply

Once Noctis and Max make contact, the outside repairs may go faster.
Visvires 21st Dec 2015, 4:19 AM edit delete reply
Once Acantha and Lynn are safely in Aeneas' realm, they'll have all the time they need. Still better to get things done quickly, because people are dying back there, but I think this is the point where Decimus' fate is sealed. Kyle's taking away his ultimatum, and his leverage just took the tram.
sigpig 21st Dec 2015, 8:03 AM edit delete reply

There are repairs, and then there are REPAIRS. The first repair should be the one that will allow Aaneas to repair himself. IMHO, once this happens, every repair bot and sub-routine will be sent to fix the areas that were destroyed...
Lukkai 21st Dec 2015, 2:07 PM edit delete reply

That depends on the exact nature of the contingencies and how Decimus rigged them up. It might actually need amazingly few effort to get to a point where Aeneas can act against at least the majority of them.
rfaramir 22nd Dec 2015, 10:04 AM edit delete reply
"at least a majority of them"?

Um, with contingencies like these, a majority is not good enough. You need to be able to counter them all.
Lukkai 22nd Dec 2015, 9:49 PM edit delete reply

"At least the majority" does include the chance of "all". It invokes a possible measure going upwards from more than half on to fully.
mjkj 21st Dec 2015, 12:46 AM edit delete reply

Poor Acantha...

Oh, A is getting repaired already...?!? So, how did bluehairguywhosenameshallnotbenamed manage to not be killed...?

PS: I hope you are feeling better now, Cent...

HiFranc 21st Dec 2015, 12:51 AM edit delete reply

I'm guessing because Aeneas remembered him as Lynn's boyfriend. Remember that Acantha had Aeneas's monitoring ring on her person at the dinner (I think it was in her pocket).

{edit} And he was probably monitoring the feed from the morgue. After all he knew what Decimus had tried to do to her before he gave her the ring.
Visvires 21st Dec 2015, 4:21 AM edit delete reply
That would explain things neatly.
Lukkai 21st Dec 2015, 2:08 PM edit delete reply

Not to forget that Kyle has the necessary gear to approach Aeneas undetected. And as soon as repairs are starting to really have an effect, it's not far-fetched for Aeneas to decide that he likes the guy doing them.
rfaramir 22nd Dec 2015, 10:07 AM edit delete reply
Hope I'm wrong, but if TR only needs the nanobots inside Kyle delivered into the right area, Kyle's survival is not essential to fixing Aeneas.

He sneaks in, gets assaulted by the defenses, the nanobots leak out onto Aeneas, mission accomplished! This is NOT what I want, to be clear… just possible.
Stormwind13 22nd Dec 2015, 10:28 AM edit delete reply

Actually I'm not sure that is true. I get the feeling that was a ruse to get Kyle's body out of the dining hall before someone realized he wasn't quite as dead as advertised.
Matt Knab 21st Dec 2015, 3:02 AM edit delete reply

Aw, what a polite droid. :)
Also..."Are you SURE you're an android?" Awesome. :)
cattservant 21st Dec 2015, 5:14 AM edit delete reply

It seems Kyle has been successfully scurrying about.
Stever 21st Dec 2015, 7:15 AM edit delete reply

Heheh, mature AND extremely cynical.XD

Ooh, ER visit. That's too bad, but I'm glad things seem fine. Good luck!
Dragonrider 21st Dec 2015, 8:07 AM edit delete reply

A Happy and Blessed Solstice to those of us who celebrate it.
Stormwind13 21st Dec 2015, 8:32 AM edit delete reply

I'm sorry you had a rough time of it, CentComm. ::HUGS:: Please take care of yourself, so no ER visits are needed.
Lukkai 21st Dec 2015, 2:09 PM edit delete reply

Here's to hoping you're making a full. And quickly.
ProfEtheric 21st Dec 2015, 5:03 PM edit delete reply

Repairs currently underway? Uh-oh...
KarToon12 21st Dec 2015, 6:00 PM edit delete reply

I hope you feel better soon! <3
Romfire 21st Dec 2015, 10:18 PM edit delete reply
I just have to wonder what Ceci is up to and how this turn of events will fit with her secret orders.
Mark_L_A 22nd Dec 2015, 11:55 AM edit delete reply

I have to wonder how Androids will be treated, at least by the Palace, once Acantha takes the throne. Especially if she requests androids from New Troy to help get the bureaucracy in order.

DLKmusic 22nd Dec 2015, 5:47 PM edit delete reply

That would go over well, I'm sure! A society of androphobic people suddenly find out that the things they have been taught to fear and despise are now telling them "I'm sorry, but you forgot to fill out supplemental form 1072-C, and I cannot process your request at this time".

uhm.... yeah....
Stormwind13 22nd Dec 2015, 6:57 PM edit delete reply

Plus Nova Roma doesn't NEED the androids doing the tedious work. They have PLENTY of people that need the work.
